Mason's Tale, watercolour, 16 x 22 inches, this piece is framed

Bill Mason was a renown Canadian canoeist. This bay, "Old Woman's Bay" named by the Ojibway was the place that he filmed his "Paddle to the Sea" from. From a slightly different perspective you can see the profile of the face in the headland that the Ojibway named the body of water and the river that flows into it, after. This watercolour is of that body of water located within Superior Provincial Park. It depicts a splendid August afternoon with the summer sun high overhead, its passage marked by its brilliant glitter upon the waters of Superior.
