This is a scene from Quetico Provincial Park. The perspective is literally west of Eden Island. The title as a metaphor, I believe we are west of the garden as told of in the biblical telling of Adam and Eve. We haven't quite got it right in understanding and living within a sustainable future. We are moving slowly in that direction because of the dedication of small minorities of individuals passionate about the survival of this planet we call Earth.

This image was, in the year I created it along with the assisstance of printmaker John Lawson the most complex serigraph in my portfolio. To this day it is still one of the finest examples of my craft. It comprises forty nine colours with every serigraph in the edition having that many colours. It is a very laborious process but it affords the art enthusiast an original work done by my hand.

Quetico Provincial Park sits in the middle of North America. Its weather is a complex mix. It is affectd by Arctic, prairies, great lake and southern weather cells. In this image there are two active weather cells one higher up with another one coming in underneath it. I've had storms come over while taveling this parks lakes leaving me dry and then turn around and come back over us for a second time and absolutely drench us with a downpour. The mix of all these weather cells creates some very dramatic skies and this was one of them.
