Beaverhouse rapids

The rapids depicted here in this photo are where the Quetico River tumbles into Beaverhouse Lake, one of the westernmost lakes in Quetico Park. I've done about twenty trips over the years into this wilderness area being introduced to it by a friend, Dave Howard in 1983. I've done numerous trips with Dave and the route that i've come to love is one that begins at the Beaverhouse entry point of the park. The rapids on the Quetico River have to be portaged around. It is the first portage of this route's west to east traverse of Quetico. I am always grateful that it's a short one for this is when the food packs carrying provisions for two weeks are at their heaviest.

I have painted the view looking back towards Beaverhouse Lake several times in watercolour. Still contemplating doing it in oil.
