The water mirrors the sky so we will start with an underpainting of blue that is composed of the same colours we used for the sky. Mix a half dime sized quantity of both cerulean and cobalt blue and mix thoroughly. Squeeze out a quantity of titanium white about the size of two quarters. Add three quarters of this amount to our blue mix. Mix thoroughly. Adjust the colour by adding small amounts of the different blues and the white to your taste. When you are satisfied with the colour, mix it with a half cap full of taltine. Using a pencil very lightly outline the areas of white water. When you have mixed this thoroughly use the small brushes to paint in the edges around the boulders and shoreline with the blue underpainting. Use the one inch pig hair brush to fill in the area of underpainting leaving the areas of whitewater unpainted.
